Big Night Out

The Melasti Cluster: Newer and Better Value

White Rock Beach Club above Melasti has genuinely huge infinity pools (one adults-only, one family-friendly) and direct beach stair access. Free entry, but seating areas carry a steep minimum spend of IDR 2,000,000–4,000,000 — though booking a bed in advance and arriving before 2pm typically halves it.

Magus Warung is the honest value pick on this whole list — no pool, no VIP cabanas, just good service and genuine warmth right on Melasti Beach at a fraction of the cost of its neighbors. If your idea of a good beach day doesn't require an infinity pool, start here.

A few more worth knowing about on the same stretch: Tropical Temptation (Tulum-meets-Bali design, no entry fee but a towel charge plus minimum spend on seating) and Timbis Beach Club near Pandawa (small, low-key, minimum spend from as little as IDR 200,000 per person — one of the lowest on the peninsula).

Sunset timing shifts with the season. Uluwatu faces west, but exactly where the sun drops along that horizon moves through the year — expect the clifftop spots around Bingin and Padang Padang to have the strongest sunset light in the drier months, with the angle shifting further along the coast at other times of year. Arrive 45–60 minutes before sundown regardless of which club you've picked; the good seats go first everywhere on this list.

Access logistics matter more than the menu. Several of these clubs — Sundays, Klive, Karma — require a cable car or inclinator down a genuine cliff face, which is a lot of fun but not something to attempt with a bad knee or young kids in a rush.
